Dolphin Zek

Dolphins are marine mammals renowned for their sophisticated biosonar system, known as echolocation. They produce short, broad-spectrum bursts of sound called "clicks." These clicks are generated in the nasal passages (not the larynx) and focused through a fatty organ in the forehead called the melon . As the clicks travel through water, they bounce off objects (fish, rocks, predators). The returning echoes are received through the dolphin’s lower jaw, which transmits vibrations to the inner ear. This allows dolphins to “see” with sound, creating a three-dimensional acoustic image of their environment, even in murky water.
