The series kicks off with , a brilliant but cocky high school detective who gets too close to a shady deal involving the "Men in Black." Instead of killing him, their experimental poison, APTX 4869, shrinks him into a seven-year-old. This transformation is the engine of the show, forcing him to adopt the alias Conan Edogawa and move in with his crush, Ran Mouri, and her bumbling private investigator father, Kogoro.
