With successes like Qismat and Nikka Zaildar , he proved his mettle in commercial cinema. However, Moh was a different beast. Promotional material hinted at a tragic love story, but audiences were unprepared for the psychological depth and the raw, unpolished portrayal of rural Punjab that awaited them.

Furthermore, the male lead (the husband) is frustratingly passive. While this is likely intentional (to show how men get caught between mother and wife without fighting), it can make you want to yell at the screen.
