This paper analyzes the trade-offs between file size, encoding speed, and visual fidelity when re-encoding Blu-ray source material to 1080p x264. Using a sample from Re:Born (2016), we compare default groups (GHOULS) presets against reference encoders. Results show that slower presets ( --preset veryslow ) reduce bitrate by 18% at equivalent PSNR, while maintaining perceptual transparency for high-motion action sequences typical of Japanese cinema.

As more viewers experience high-definition and 4K content, their expectations for video and audio quality will continue to rise. This could drive demand for even higher quality releases in the future. Re.Born.2016.1080p.BluRay.x264-GHOULS-EtHD-
