The film takes place in the 1930s and tells the story of Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks), a corrections officer who works on death row, also known as the Green Mile, at a Louisiana prison. The story is narrated by Paul Edgecomb, now an old man, who recounts his experiences when he was a corrections officer.
